Be careful to obey all these commands I am giving you. Show love to the Lord your God by walking in his ways and holding tightly to him.
Deuteronomy 11:22
In this life we must choose a path to walk, the path that leads to life which follows Christ, or the path that leads to death which leads a life of rebellion to God. The path that leads to rebellion is something I touched on in a previous post Follow The Leader, how its deception is what gets us to choose this seemingly pleasant road, but becomes a trap the further we journey along.
In our human nature we desire comfort and ease, we have a part of ourselves that desires to be at peace and have good things happen. The wrong path, which is a wide road that has you comfortably living in sin, is something that seems enjoyable but is actually causing destruction. It presents false realities that please your flesh (our human nature) and so life seems sweet. But there's still this ongoing battle spiritually for your soul, even in sin God continues to pursue us, so there are times when you find yourself feeling "out of it", or have this nagging thought along the lines of what is the purpose of my existence?
So you sleeping with multiple partners, soothing with substances, holding onto grudges, conniving people, progressing in your pursuit for wealth and success, people pleasing, giving to charity, getting married to someone who seems perfect, moving to a new city, choosing your university, making up with friends, breaking up with a girlfriend or boyfriend. All these decisions, which some of them are not offending but a part of life, when walking the wrong path it doesn't seem like you are causing yourself any harm or impacting your destiny negatively. But that's because the wrong path seeks to make things seem as normal as possible and falsely, even better than if you were on the right path.
Let's look at some of the examples I listed, sexual promiscuity is an obvious sin that is well known even in non religious circles, as society has its limits for how much sexual freedom it can tolerate from certain genders at times. Giving your body to people who have not committed to you in the covenant of marriage is not God's plan for our lives. Striving for success in career or finances is something that most people aspire towards, but on the wrong path, there is an absence of wisdom and correction from the Holy Spirit to not make an idol out of God's provision. Marriage is a very important decision, it affects not only your future but your lineage. On the wrong path you do not have Godly counsel to make a sound decision taking into consideration practical and spiritual realities regarding a potential mate. The enemy loves to use this decision as a tactic to derail people further from fulfilling their God given destiny. You can decide to move to a new place, but some of our relocations take us further from the will of God, or at times we should've remained planted and God would have guided our growth in that place in which he needs us.
The wrong path doesn't always look obviously "wrong", sometimes you can wonder what even is the difference between me and those who choose the right path, they don't even have some of the things I've accomplished you think. That's deception at work, for there is much more at play than the physical realm, and I want to shatter that glass which has you seeing a distorted reality.
The scripture I referenced is for our good, and there is wisdom in following God's ways and obeying his commands. We are protected from so much that we will never know because we are under God's covering. His strategy helps us to become who we were destined to be, as He trains and corrects us so our character becomes more Christlike as we mature. He has our best interest at heart, and the way to live life successfully is by following the original plan of The One who created you. His plans are not suggestion, they cannot be revised with our own versions, His word is everlasting and what He has said to come to fruition on earth, it shall be whether you comply or He raises up another who will.
I would caution you to think about the state of your soul, would you not rather drink from living waters and be in His presence, where there is satisfaction beyond anything you could have.; walk in fellowship with the Holy spirit and grow deeper in love with Jesus. There is true freedom walking with Him and if you want to turn from the wrong path, call out to Him and The Shepherd will come to save His lost sheep and return them back to the greener pastures.
Choose the path of life today.
